He sold all his possessions and traveled to Nepal and Thailand where he spent four years preparing for the ascent. In the second attempt, in 2007, he succeeded. After his return to the United States, he founded the "Heroes Project" which supported war veterans who have lost their legs to get back to their old life. His ascent of Mount Everest was filmed by the Discovery Channel in "Everest - Game with Death". In 2007 the documentary "After the Climb" followed as well as the series "Wildlife - Back to life", also with Medvetz in the leading role.
In 1998 he founded his company in Los Angeles, where he developed and sold motorcycles. There he was also a member of the Hells Angels. On September 10, 2001, he suffered a serious accident in the San Fernando Valley. Contrary to the physicians' first presumption that they would have to amputate Medvetz' legs, they were able to heal them in several operations. However, he was diagnosed that he would never be able to walk properly again. One year after his accident, Medvetz decided to radically change his life. He swore off his connections to the Hells Angels and set himself the goal of climbing Mount Everest.
Tim Wayne Medvetz (born 1970) is an American adventurer, motorcycle developer and television presenter. He is widely known for his television series Everest: Beyond the Limit (2006). He is also a former member of the Hells Angels.
