Wendell Bryant is a former American football defensive tackle who played in the National Football League (NFL) for nine seasons. He was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals in the first round of the 2002 NFL Draft. He played college football at the University of Wisconsin. Bryant attended St. Louis University High School in St. Louis, Missouri, where he was a two-time All-State selection. He was also a two-time All-Conference selection and was named the conference's Defensive Player of the Year as a senior. Bryant played college football at the University of Wisconsin, where he was a two-time All-Big Ten selection and was named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year in 2001. He was also a two-time All-American selection and was named the Big Ten Defensive Lineman of the Year in 2001. Bryant was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals in the first round of the 2002 NFL Draft. He played for the Cardinals for four seasons before being traded to the Denver Broncos in 2006. He played for the Broncos for two seasons before being released in 2008. He then signed with the Detroit Lions, where he played for three seasons before retiring in 2011. Bryant finished his NFL career with 441 tackles, 24 sacks, and four forced fumbles. After graduating from Ritenour High School in St. Louis, Missouri, Bryant played college football at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He played in back to back Rose Bowls his freshman & sophomore years of college. He had a key sack to help secure the 1999 Rose Bowl victory. He won the Big Ten defensive lineman of the Year Award in his junior and senior years.
Bryant was drafted by the Las Vegas Locomotives of the United Football League and signed on August 5, 2009. He was placed on injured reserve on November 19, 2009.
